How old are you?
Old enough to know better. Okay, sorry, I'm being lame. In all seriousness, I'm in my twenties. But thirty
is sneaking up awfully fast. Ahhh!
Where do you get your ideas?
I get asked this question so often, you'd think I'd have a good answer for it by now. But I don't. In all
honesty, it's hard to say exactly how I get my ideas. Most of the time they just pop into my head, seemingly out of nowhere.
How do you come up with your titles?
I don't! My editor at Simon Pulse is an absolute genius when it comes to titles. While
I was fumbling around, trying to figure out what to name my two teen books, she thought up Love Undercover
and Go Figure. Awesome, eh? I'm so lucky to be working with her.
Is Go Figure a sequel to Love Undercover?
Nope, it's a brand new idea, one I hope you'll really adore.
Are you going to write a sequel to Love Undercover? I want to know what happens to
Maybe. It's still too early to say, but I'm definitely open to the idea! I loved telling Kaitlyn's story
and I think it would be awesome to revisit her character.
Were you popular in high school?
Oh, God, no. I mean, I wasn't a big outcast or anything, but I definitely wasn't on the A-List. C-List maybe?
I had my little group of friends, and some of them were popular, but I never was. I was really self-conscious and shy
and I didn't get involved in a lot of activities. Although I was an editor for our school newspaper, and I also co-wrote
our junior class skit.
Did you go to college?
I did indeed. I majored in journalism at the University of Memphis and I loved every minute of it. High
school wasn't always so great for me, but college was absolutely one of the best times of my life.
I heard that you also write books for adults. Would I like them?
That depends. If you're in the age range for Love Undercover (grade school and middle) then you
might want to wait a few years. My next book, Go Figure, is actually geared towards older teens (high school age).
So if you're a fan of Go Figure, then by all means check out my adult novels! They are: The Next Big Thing,
Your Big Break, and How to Be Cool, available in bookstores nationwide.
Can I send you an email?
